Eric Begins Principal Accelerator Program, Building an Advisory-Focused Practice at Dark Horse CPAs
CARDIFF BY THE SEA, CA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dark Horse CPAs, a top accounting and tax firm serving small businesses across the nation, announces the hiring of Eric Ting as an Accelerator in the firm’s Principal Accelerator Program. Eric brings experience across very different professional environments, from large multinational companies with teams spread across the U.S. and abroad to a family office with a smaller, more closely connected team. Throughout his career, much of his work has required coordinating across professionals and departments, an experience that shaped his preference for a collaborative approach to solving client problems.
After years of working within established firm structures, Eric wanted his next chapter to give him more control over the practice he was helping build. “What drew me to Dark Horse was the opportunity to build a practice of my own,” said Eric. “At other firms, the path to building your own book of business was very rigid and restrictive. Dark Horse gives Accelerators the systems and support of an established firm, but the practice you build is yours. I didn’t have to choose between entrepreneurial ownership and having the resources of a larger firm.”
That ownership carries into the way Eric works with business owners. He prefers a relationship where clients understand enough of the financial picture to participate in decisions instead of receiving answers without context. “I see my role as equipping business owners with the tools to succeed,” Eric said. “They need the necessary financial numbers, but they also need to understand the reason behind them well enough to make good decisions on their own.”
For Eric, that also means being involved early enough for tax strategy to influence a decision rather than documenting its consequences later. “Clients need an advisory-first relationship,” he said. “They need someone who is thinking ahead about tax strategy, not just reporting on compliance. With tax law changing constantly, the value is in flagging the opportunity or the risk before it’s too late to act on it.” His experience in both large and small organizations has also shaped the kind of client relationship he wants to build through his own practice.
“There’s a real gap in the market for advisors who can operate at a high technical level while still being genuinely accessible to the client,” Eric said. “I hope to find clients who need someone to fill that space and become their trusted advisor.”
“Eric has seen both sides of the spectrum,” said Chase Birky, CEO and co-founder of Dark Horse CPAs. “He’s worked in organizations with deep teams and specialized expertise, and he’s also worked in a family office where staying close to the people you serve is a big part of the job. That combination fits well with what we’re building at Dark Horse. Our Firm-as-a-Service offering will provide Eric with resourcing and leverage to give him the big firm toolset so he can both stay close to his clients and empower them for success; getting the best of both worlds on his practice building journey. I’m excited to see him pair his skills with our resources to build a practice that fits him like a glove and drives prosperity for his clients.”
About the Dark Horse Accelerator Program
The Dark Horse Principal Accelerator Program was created for entrepreneurially minded CPAs who want to build a scalable book of business without the personal and financial sacrifices required to start a firm from scratch. Dark Horse provides its CPAs with the resources and support needed to grow intelligently and profitably. Its proprietary technology, flexible staffing model and established systems allow CPAs to focus on advising clients and building lasting relationships.
Accelerators complete a training program covering the firm’s technology, sales process and practice-building model before beginning to develop their own books of business. They receive one-on-one coaching and access to full-time and fractional professional personnel as they grow. After successfully completing the program and meeting the firm’s ownership requirements, Accelerators may become equity Principals of Dark Horse CPAs.
The Dark Horse Principal Accelerator Program is currently accepting new Accelerators. Interested CPAs can learn more at abetterway.cpa or by emailing info@darkhorse.cpa.
