CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — An Illinois Park District has replaced more than 2,000 interior and exterior fixtures with high-efficiency LED lighting, ONSITE Utility Services announced, resolving safety concerns across its campus without spending capital the district didn’t have.
Deteriorating exterior lighting had created unsafe, poorly lit areas around the district’s campus, while shadows in the indoor golf dome disrupted play and diminished the visitor experience. With multiple buildings and over 2,000 fixtures, maintenance demands were continuous and costly, yet like many municipal districts, the organization lacked the capital budget to upgrade its outdated lighting systems.
ONSITE conducted a thorough review of the district’s electric bills, maintenance history, and facility lighting, then designed a redesigned lighting layout for both the outdoor grounds and the health club and golf dome interiors to eliminate the safety concerns and dramatically improve visibility. The full retrofit was delivered through a Lighting-as-a-Service (LaaS) agreement that included ongoing maintenance, removing both the operational and financial burden from the district.
Illinois park districts are statutorily barred from entering agreements longer than three years. ONSITE resolved that constraint by structuring the engagement as a three-year agreement with a two-year extension, satisfying the law while preserving the project’s financial feasibility.
